Guided by the humane ethic and livability interests within our neighborhoods, the mission of
Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is to ensure public health and safety as well as prevent
pet overpopulation, animal neglect, and animal cruelty through education, rescue, and law enforcement.
In 2011 a group of animal welfare agencies came together to create a shelter database that would track growth and allow agencies to measure progress. Shelter Animals Count is a new, collaborative initiative formed by a diverse group of stakeholders to create and share a national database of sheltered animal statistics, providing facts, and enabling insights that will save lives.
